Sydney, Australia. 16 January, 2003
Internationally respected anti spam organization
BestPrac.Org tackles Spam Bots with the launch of a new three part
information series to aid webmasters, site administrators, and everyday
internet users in the war to stop spam.
In response to feedback from supporters of its
internationally recognized “Principles of Best Practice in Email Spam
Prevention and Eradication”, BestPrac.Org has commenced the information
series in “layman’s language” to provide easy to understand, practical
education and advice and other tools and resources free of charge to
the internet community.
The first series, entitled “Spam bots – and how to avoid
them” is available free of charge from the ARTICLES section of the
BestPrac.Org website, at http://www.bestprac.org
Practical advice on how to prevent spam bots crawling
your web site, how to stop them harvesting email addresses, where the
high risk places are online that spam bots trawl to harvest email
addresses, how to encrypt email addresses so that they cannot be
interpreted by spam bots, free cgi scripts & htaccess server
templates, how to choose email account names, the practicalities of
using multiple email accounts and disposable email services, links to
further information, and more are all provided in this ground-breaking
educational and practical guide.
“This is information and advice the entire internet
world needs. Ideas that worked even just a couple of years ago often do
not work against the modern technology of the newest spam bots. This
series is the most up-to-date resource of its type available online”,
said BestPrac.Org Chairman, Trevor Johnson.
A further information series, covering every aspect of
spam filters, is currently also being developed.
BestPrac.Org offers all of its services and resources to
the internet community without charge. To guarantee its independence,
BestPrac.Org does not accept advertising,
does not receive commissions on any third-party products or services
mentioned on its website, and does not sell product endorsements. BestPrac.Org
does, however, willingly accept non-conditional voluntary donations
online at its website from members of the public who wish to support
this anti spam organization.
